Totally Baked: Speedy Prosperity Triple Ginger Cookies

Is there truly anyone out there who doesn’t like a cookie? If there is, I haven’t encountered them yet. The allure of a warm, fresh cookie comes with heavy pangs of nostalgia for many and is hard to beat. This attraction makes cookies an excellent choice when you are weaving spellwork in your kitchen. In the case of this recipe, we are utilizing the sacred power of 3 and the properties of ginger to amplify our spellwork in the area of prosperity and help draw more abundance into our lives quickly.

As the title says, these are not double, but triple ginger cookies. We are utilizing both ground dried and crystalized ginger, with the third source and “secret ingredient” being the addition of Chinese Five Spice. Five Spice blends like many other mixtures you find in stores or in online recipes often vary by who is creating it. The blend that I use in this recipe includes cinnamon, clove, anise seed, star anise, and, you guessed it, ginger.

Why triple ginger and what benefits does it offer?

So I hear some of you asking “What’s with all the ginger?!” I know that the idea of using three forms of ginger in this cookie could possibly seem a bit overboard, but hear me out. Each different type adds different attributes of the gingers flavor. The ground adds that classic sweet earthy baking spice we all know and love, whereas the crystallized brings in some of the heat and spiciness we typically associate with fresh ginger. Chinese five spice then adds a lot of complexity and helps to round the flavor of this cookie out.

Besides being a delicious addition to many dishes, it also is a very powerful spice if used in spellwork. Ginger is often used in workings or rituals where you are looking to charge or hasten your intent, especially in the areas of prosperity, love, and luck. As with most other “spicy” ingredients, I associate ginger with protection and banishing properties as well. While they aren’t the stars of the show, the other spices that are featured in this recipe assist in reinforcing and amplifying ginger’s properties, especially the cinnamon and cloves.

Ginger also provides a bounty of benefits to the physical body; long being used to relieve ailments of many types. Perhaps the most notable usage for ginger medicinally is to help soothe issues such as nausea, motion sickness, digestive troubles and general upset stomach. Ginger has powerful antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antioxidant properties, making it and absolute must have in your cold and flu season repertoire. It is classically paired with citrus and honey in the form of teas or tonics, as all help to boost stamina and aid your immune system.

Power of Three

As I said at the beginning, this recipe calls upon the number 3 which carries an important association within itself. The number 3 is extremely powerful and sacred in most spiritual philosophies; whether through the symbolism of the Triple Goddess/Deity archetype, Three-Fold Law, Mind-Body-Soul connections, or the Birth-Life-Death cycle. By using three instances of ginger, we are tapping into this energy and using it to triple the potency and acceleration of our manifestation of prosperity into our life.

When is the best time to make these?

These cookies are excellent to make and enjoy when you are looking to manifest prosperity and good luck into your life in many forms, such as:

  • Seeking new or more lucrative job opportunities.

  • Purchasing a home or making other large financial investments.

  • Celebrations surrounding family (graduations, marriages, births, holiday events).

Speedy Prosperity Triple Ginger Cookies

( 0 reviews )
Gaining extra spice from three sources of ginger, these cookies are sure to help heat up your prosperity spellwork.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses (see notes)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp table salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon (success, wealth, energizing)
  • 1 tsp ground ginger (prosperity, luck, amplification)
  • 1 tsp Chinese five spice (protection, love, luck)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves (prosperity, action)
  • 1/4 cup crystalized ginger, coarsely chopped (see notes)
  • Coarse decorating sugar (optional, see notes)

Instructions

To make:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and prepare two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and ground spices together, setting your intentions as you mix. Once combined, set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl or bowl of a standing mixer, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla, and molasses to the butter/sugar mixture and mix until well combined, scraping the sides and bottom of the bowl to ensure the mixture is fully integrated.
  5. Slowly add the in the flour mixture and combine until the dough comes together. Be sure to scrap the sides and bottom of the bowl with a spatula at lease once to make certain all of the butter and sugar are combined.
  6. Add your chopped crystalized ginger and mix until just combined.
  7. Either use a small scoop or a large spoon to shape the cookies, then roll them into balls and place them approximately 2 inches on the prepared baking sheets, flattening them with your palm slightly. Sprinkle the tops with coarse sugar, if you so choose.
  8. Place them in your preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes or until slightly golden on the edges. Be sure to turn the pans halfway through the baking time to ensure even baking.
  9. Let the cookies cool slightly before enjoying. You can store any extra cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.

Notes

  • I highly recommend you use dark baking molasses for this instead of blackstrap molasses. Blackstrap has a stronger, bitter flavor and I tend to find it more appropriate in use in savory dishes.

  • When measuring out molasses or other sticky products, spray or lightly oil your measuring cup beforehand to ensure all of the product comes out easily.

  • Crystalized ginger are slices of fresh ginger that have been boiled in a sugar syrup then coated in sugar; giving them a chewy candy-like flavor and texture. You can find this product in most grocery stores and it is usually found in the same section as dried fruits and nuts.

  • Coarse decorating sugar can be found in the baking aisle of some larger grocery stores or at your local cake/baking/craft supply store. While completely optional, the crunchy texture is sublime on top of the cookie. You can even use different colors of sugar to amplify your intentions.
